Hats Off to Firefighters and Other First Responders

They are the people who run straight toward danger rather than running away. In Canada, more than 150,000 firefighters and police officers are our front line defence when dangers occur. Add the EMTs/paramedics, sheriff's deputies, volunteers, and other responders who are also exposed to the grave hazards inherent in emergency responses in our cities and towns, on highways and roadways, and in our neighbourhoods, and you see the big picture of how important their work truly is. There is a movement underway to recognize these dedicated individuals with a national day of recognition.
