Join Us in Raising Awareness for Shelter Dogs

This month, we're excited to support local shelter dogs and shed light on how you can make a difference in the lives of our furry friends within the community. Canada's network of Humane Societies and Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCAs) comprises 125 charitable organizations committed to various aspects of animal welfare. These organizations focus on animal sheltering, the protection and enforcement of animal rights, as well as initiatives for humane education and advocacy. Notably, nearly half of their funding relies on the generous contributions of individuals, underscoring the constant necessity for support from the community.

We invite you to join us in our mission to boost awareness and extend a helping hand. Here's how you can participate:

  • Share this blog with your friends and family.
  • Advocate for adoption over purchasing from breeders.
  • Share your heartwarming adoption stories or stories from those you know.
  • Engage in and promote local animal shelter events.
  • Utilize the hashtag #PawsFirst in your social media posts.

Fascinating Shelter and Adoption Insights:

  • Every year, approximately 3.1 million dogs enter shelters in the United States.
  • Senior dogs often come with house training, making them delightful companions with less mess.
  • Breeds like German Shepherds, Pitbulls, Rottweilers, and mixed breeds are in need of loving homes.
  • Black dogs face greater challenges in finding homes compared to their lighter-colored counterparts.
  • Most shelters rely on community support and do not receive government funding.
  • Adopting a dog is not only a compassionate choice but also more cost-effective than purchasing one.
