One of life’s greatest rewards is making people happy. Hernan Rodriguez, Mitigation Team Lead of Paul Davis Restoration in suburban Virginia, is a perfect example of that principle. Owners of this busy, successful Paul Davis Virginia operation, Andrew and Alexis Golkin, are continually amazed by Rodriguez. “He truly brings our customers a sense of joy whenever he is around, no matter what is going on. The positive customer feedback is solid evidence. They always tell us Hernan puts them at ease and that he makes their most worrisome situations far less stressful.” Rodriguez clarifies his work ethic this way. “I do on-site inspections, conduct moisture mapping when necessary, and I run the mitigation team effort. I worked hard to learn how to talk to customers, how to always be upbeat, positive and unflappable. When customers who have experienced damage to their home or business show signs of worry, frustration or stress, it doesn’t help to let them see our worry, even when I and other members of our Paul Davis team are just plain exhausted.” Here’s a good example. Several months ago one of the company’s customers experienced three minor water damage issues in a relatively short period of time. Her upstairs bathroom had leaked down the interior walls and into her kitchen several times. Her frustration and understandable concerns were overwhelming to her. “ I was very attentive,” says Rodriguez. “I put myself in her shoes. I took the time to explain what we were doing and why. Asked what other things we could do to help her out and explained it wasn't her fault; just a result of circumstances. When we finished the last job for her, she sent me the nicest thank you note. That meant a lot to me and my Paul Davis team.”
Hernan came to America when he was 21. “This job with Paul Davis has been so good for me. As the team leader I am a working supervisor. So everyone on the team knows that I pitch in doing the hard work as well. It’s also the first job I’ve had where I have a close working relationship with the owners. That means a lot to me.” After work, his passion is baseball. “Baseball runs in my veins and I loved and played the sport as I grew up in the Dominican Republic. Now, I welcome every opportunity to attend pro games as often as possible.”
